About

Founded in 2015, Tourism Certification International (TCI), has a commitment to promote sustainable development through tourism, while also making tourism a more sustainable and with a higher quality service, contributing, in this way, to economic development and to attack poverty with innovative approaches to strengthen access to opportunities for the most vulnerable.

The Certification of Tourism Sustainability® that promotes Tourism Certification International (TCI) was presented in 2003 by the first time and obtained the endorsement of tourism associations, private companies and development and conservation international organizations in several countries. Several companies have been certified and after an important validation process it was decided to strengthen the internationalization of this certification through Tourism Certification International (TCI). The seal and the procedures of the Certification of Tourism Sustainability® have been patented and registered internationally and their use is protected by the Law and International Agreements.

The Certification of Tourism Sustainability® is internationally promoted through the regional branches of Tourism Certification International (TCI), and through the agreements with national governments and tourism enterprises associations. With them, and with the financial sector, we also promote financial mechanisms to make tourism operations more sustainable. With financial multilateral organizations and development agencies we promote stronger sustainable tourism policies and programs at country levels and through multilateral regional agreements. Tourism Certification International (TCI) has its Secretariat in Montréal, Canada, as well as representatives in Latin America, Africa, Asia and Europe.
