Pre-auditing is developed by the company and two papers are prepared in this stage: i)
Baseline of the tourism operations and sustainability conditions,
and ii)
Pre-Auditing: Self assessment –under oath- using the standards. To prepare the baseline, the company will follow the structure explained in the Form N° 2: Baseline of the tourism operations and sustainability conditions. It demands basic information about the company and a description of tourism activities and, environmental and socioeconomic conditions, as territorial and ecological situation, climate, water, flora, fauna, land use and landscapes; sociocultural situation, as population, ethnic groups, income, historic and archaeological remains, infrastructure, services, housing, human settlements, risks, economy and management. Too, the company must fill in the Form N° 3: Pre Auditing This Form is a self assessment of the tourism operations of the applicanr company by their own personnel. This Form is also filled in under oath, so it must be sign up by the representative of the company. When the Form N° 2 and Form N° 3 have been prepared they both are delivered to the country representation. After
this PreAuditing process ends, the company and the Tourism Certification
International Country Representation agree a date where a joint visit,
to develop the auditing could take place. If, after one year of officially beginning the Certification of Tourism Sustainability the Pre-Auditing process has not ended, the application process is cancelled and the company will have to begin again the certification process. Fees will not be refunded.
